Armenian Peasant House, Șumuleu Ciuc
The Armenian Peasant House in Șumuleu Ciuc is a rare example of rural Armenian architecture in Transylvania. This simple yet distinctive building reflects the lifestyle and domestic culture of the Armenian community at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The house features wooden beam ceilings, a thick stone foundation, and whitewashed adobe walls—characteristic elements of rural architecture of the time. Inside, visitors can find traditional Armenian household items, folk costumes, kitchen utensils, and religious relics, offering a vivid glimpse into the daily life of Armenian peasants.
The house was preserved as a cultural heritage site and restored through a local initiative to showcase and protect the values of the Armenian community in Székely Land./p>
